Mission & School Motto
The mission of Wellsville Elementary School is to enhance each day’s journey while building individual Leaders who are:
- Responsible
- Kind
- Resourceful
And who have the skills, confidence and integrity to face the future.
“With Great Expectations Come Great Leaders” is the motto of our school this year. In all that we do let’s be leaders in doing our best academically and being kind and respectful to our peers and teachers.
In order to create a safe and positive environment where students, parents, and staff can work and learn to their fullest potential, the following discipline policy in accordance with the Cache County School District Citizenship and Behavior policy will be implemented.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend at least 93% of the time which means they should miss 12 or fewer school days during the year. Regular attendance will help prevent learning gaps in student learning. Parent cooperation is needed to help provide all students with a quality education. An absence from school interferes with the child’s opportunity to master basic skills for reading, language arts, and mathematics.
Please send a note to the school or phone every time your child is absent explaining the reason. The school may require a statement from a doctor regarding extended absences for illness.
Excessive absences shall be defined as three or more absences during a calendar month and more than nine absences, regardless of the time frame. If a student meets the criteria for excessive absences, the school will contact the parent/guardian of the student.
Check-in and Check-out Procedure
School is in session 180 days a year. School begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:35 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM to 2:20 PM on Friday. Any parent/legal guardian requiring a student to leave school early must get an early check-out slip from the office which they will give to their student’s teacher. (No child will be released without a slip).
Bus Rules
While going to the bus, the students will:
- Walk to the bus.
- Stand on the sidewalk until the bus driver opens the bus doors.
- Be courteous to others including:
- No crowding in line
- No saving places
- While on the bus, students will:
- Stay on the bus.
- Remain seated at all times.
- Talk quietly.
- Keep arms and head inside the bus and to themselves.
- Use trash containers provided.
- Be courteous and respectful to the driver and others
- Show respect for personal and school property.
Walking/Bike/Car Ride Rules
- Walk when leaving school grounds.
- Walk bikes and scooters until off the school grounds.
- Use only designated street crossing areas. When there is a crossing guard, cross on their signal only.
- Do not walk between the buses.
- Parents/guardians pick up students on the east side of the school in the parent pick up/drop off lane at the sidewalk curb. The parking lot, by state law, is for bus pick up/drop off only. These have to be separate areas. If a parent must come into the school during this time, park in the parking lot. If coming back from the school, children may enter the vehicle in the lot if an adult walks them from the school through the parking lot.
- Please refer to the SNAP plan at our website for more details.
Building Rules
While in the building the students will:

Cell Phone Policy
The Cache County School District has determined that for elementary schools a student’s cellular device must be turned off from the first bell, and remain off until the last bell during school hours. These devices must be in a backpack during the course of the school day and not taken out. Communication with parents/guardians will be facilitated through the teacher or the central office of the school. Wearable cellular devices may be worn as long as they do not create a distraction, a disruption or used to communicate with during school hours. Students who choose to bring cellular devices to school do so at their own risk. The school district assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen devices if they are brought to school.
Birthday Recognition
Teachers will recognize student birthdays. The PTO will monthly recognize student birthdays. We ask that students and parents not bring birthday treats, balloons, etc. to recognize a student’s birthday during class. Students also should not hand out birthday invitations to selected students during school hours.
Bringing Class Treats (Edible or Non-Edible)
The district policy states that parents and students are not to treat students in a classroom. Any treating should be done through the PTO with the approval of the Principal, and then only on, or for, traditionally recognized holidays. As a school we will uphold this policy. This includes classroom birthday treating and individual student birthday treats or gifts during school. Teachers will recognize student birthdays when they occur and the PTO will recognize student birthdays on a monthly basis during lunch.
Dress Code
The Cache County School District has established the following guidelines to aid parents and students in the selection of proper school attire. This dress code is established to help support an atmosphere that provides for a safe, orderly, disruption-free learning environment:
- Students should be clean and well groomed (hair, clothes, cosmetics). If safety is a factor, more stringent standards may be applied.
- Shoes or sandals must be worn at all times while on campus.
- Opened toed footwear is discouraged.
- Except for religious or medical purposes, hats, capes, and other head coverings shall not be worn or displayed inside school facilities during school hours.
- Clothes shall sufficiently cover undergarments at all times.
- See-through or net fabrics, halter-tops, off the shoulder or low-cut tops, bare midriffs, and muscle shirts (sleeveless/bare midriff shirts) are prohibited.
- Shorts and skirts worn should be at least mid-thigh or longer. A good way to tell if your shorts are long enough is that your shorts go below your fingertips with your hands at your side. This is not the rule, but gives you a general idea if you are in compliance with the expectation.
- Shirts should have a sleeve. Tank tops aren’t allowed.
Students need to come to school dressed comfortably, but in a manner that they are prepared to learn and not to go to the beach or other recreational activities. The mindset to learn is very important and is affected by how we appear. We hope that we will all dress to find success in our academic studies and classrooms.
